About Us

I am Debjani Banerjee, the founder of Aananda Collections — a brand born from love, nostalgia, and a deep respect for India’s textile heritage.

I grew up in a traditional joint family in Calcutta, surrounded by women who wore handloom sarees with pride. My mother, Kakimas, and Pishimonis draped Tant, Jamdani, Tangail, Baluchari, and silks — each saree lovingly named and cherished. Those drapes shaped my understanding of grace, culture, and storytelling through fabric.

Academically, I am an Honours graduate in English and began my professional journey as a teacher. But my creative instincts kept calling me forward. Over the years, I explored and trained myself in Graphic designing and even 3D animation, rediscovering my love for art, design, and visual storytelling.

A turning point came when a conversation with a weaver revealed how many artisans were abandoning their ancestral craft due to lack of livelihood. That moment stayed with me — and Aananda Collections was born.

Through Aananda, I bring together heritage craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics. Every saree is handcrafted by skilled artisans, from elegant silks and intricate Jamdanis to breathable cottons and ready-to-wear pre-draped sarees with pockets — created for today’s woman who values tradition with ease.
