I’m Debjani Banerjee, the founder of Aananda Collections — a brand born from love, nostalgia, and a deep desire to preserve our cultural heritage.

I grew up in a traditional joint family in Calcutta, surrounded by women who lived and breathed grace. My mother, Kakimas, and Pishimonis draped themselves in beautiful handloom sarees — Tant, Jamdani, Tangail, Baluchari — each one a masterpiece, each one telling its own story. As I grew older, I too found joy in draping sarees and feeling that special connection to my roots.

A few years ago, a conversation with a weaver changed everything. He told me that many artisans were giving up weaving to take up odd jobs because the younger generation no longer saw value in the craft. That stayed with me — and that’s when Aananda Collections was born.

Through Aananda, I aim to revive India’s handloom heritage and reconnect people with the timeless beauty of sarees. Every piece in our collection is handcrafted by skilled artisans, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. From elegant silks and intricate Jamdanis to soft cottons and ready-to-wear pre-draped sarees with pockets, each creation is designed to make you feel confident, graceful, and effortlessly yourself.

For me, Aananda is not just a brand — it’s my way of celebrating the artistry, culture, and stories woven into every saree.
