Fresh, artisanal, and quietly beautiful — this Green and White Hand Block Printed Linen Saree from Aananda Collections is a celebration of one of India's oldest printing traditions on one of the world's most prized natural fabrics. Each motif pressed by hand, one block at a time, onto the cool, textured surface of pure linen — a process as unhurried and deliberate as the craft itself.

Colour & Design: A fresh green and white hand block printed linen body, with a distinctive silver border that frames the saree with a quiet shimmer. The hand block print creates a pattern of natural depth and slight variation — the characteristic mark of a block that has been inked and pressed by hand, where no two impressions are ever perfectly identical. The green and white palette is clean, contemporary, and effortlessly versatile.

Fabric: Handloom Linen — woven from the fibres of the flax plant, naturally breathable, quick-drying, and with a characteristic cool, crisp hand that makes it ideal for warm weather and all-day wear. The slightly textured linen surface holds block print ink with a depth and clarity that smooth fabrics cannot achieve.

Blouse: Plain linen blouse piece with silver border included in the 6.29 metres.

Size: 6.29 metres (inclusive of blouse piece) | Width: 46 inches

Occasion: Office wear, cultural events, casual festive gatherings, art events, and every occasion where understated, artisanal elegance speaks for itself.

Wash Care: Dry clean only.

Pre-stitching: Available at an additional cost of ₹1,700. Please provide your waist, hip, and desired saree length measurements.

Note: Colour may slightly vary from images due to photographic lighting and monitor settings. As this is a hand block printed saree, slight variations in print placement and impression are a mark of authentic artistry.

Saree Chronicle

Hand block printing is one of India's oldest and most celebrated textile traditions, with a history stretching back over 4,000 years. The technique involves carving a design into a wooden block — typically teak or sheesham wood — and then pressing the inked block onto the fabric by hand, one impression at a time, to build up a repeating pattern across the cloth. Each block is carved by hand by a skilled craftsperson, and the printing itself requires a steady hand, a trained eye, and an intimate knowledge of how the ink will behave on the particular fabric being printed. The slight variations in impression that result from hand block printing — the occasional ghost print, the subtle shift in alignment, the way the ink bleeds slightly into the weave — are not imperfections but the essential character of the craft, the marks that distinguish a hand-printed textile from a machine-printed one. India's most celebrated hand block printing traditions include the Bagru and Sanganeri prints of Rajasthan, the Kalamkari of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and the Ajrakh of Kutch and Sindh — each with its own distinctive colour palette, motif vocabulary, and printing technique. Linen — woven from the fibres of the flax plant — is one of the world's oldest natural textiles, prized for its breathability, quick-drying properties, and the characteristic cool, crisp hand that makes it ideal for warm climates. Unlike cotton, which retains moisture, linen wicks and releases moisture quickly, keeping the wearer cool and comfortable in warm conditions. The slightly textured, absorbent surface of linen holds block print ink with a depth and clarity that smooth fabrics cannot achieve — the ink settling into the natural irregularities of the weave to create a print that appears to be part of the fabric rather than applied to its surface. This Green and White Hand Block Printed Linen Saree is a beautiful expression of two of India's most enduring craft traditions — the ancient art of hand block printing and the timeless comfort of linen — brought together in a saree of quiet, artisanal beauty.
