Bold, warm, and full of life — this Orange Cotton Dhakai Jamdani Saree from Aananda Collections is a vibrant celebration of Bengal's finest handloom tradition. The colour of marigolds, of sindoor, of the sun at its most generous — orange has always been India's most festive hue, and on the delicate weave of Dhakai Jamdani, it glows.

Colour & Design: Vibrant orange Cotton Dhakai Jamdani forms a warm, luminous canvas adorned with intricate woven motifs across the body — each one placed individually by hand in the traditional Jamdani technique, the needle moving thread by thread to build up patterns that seem to radiate from within the fabric. A contrasting yellow karat border frames the saree with a golden warmth that deepens the orange beautifully — a sun-drenched palette that is as joyful as it is elegant.

Fabric: Blended Cotton — lightweight, breathable, and comfortable for all-day wear, with the characteristic subtle sheen of Dhakai Jamdani weaving.

Blouse: Separate 1 metre running blouse piece included.

Size: 5.5 metres approx. + 1 metre blouse piece | Width: 46 inches

Occasion: Festive gatherings, pujas, cultural celebrations, casual outings, and every occasion where vibrant, joyful elegance makes a statement.

Wash Care: Dry clean only.

Pre-stitching: Available at an additional cost of ₹1,700. Please provide your waist, hip, and desired saree length measurements.

Saree Chronicle

Jamdani is one of the finest and most celebrated handloom traditions of the Indian subcontinent, originating in the region around Dhaka (in present-day Bangladesh) and recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013. The word "Jamdani" is believed to derive from the Persian words "jam" (flower) and "dani" (vase or container), reflecting the floral motifs that are the hallmark of the tradition. Jamdani weaving is distinguished by its use of the discontinuous supplementary weft technique — a process where additional threads are individually woven into the base fabric by hand, one motif at a time, using a fine bamboo stick or needle. Unlike embroidery, where thread is applied to the surface of a finished fabric, Jamdani motifs are woven directly into the structure of the cloth, making them an integral part of the fabric itself. Orange holds a place of extraordinary significance in Indian cultural and spiritual tradition — it is the colour of the marigold garlands that adorn temples and festival spaces, of the sindoor that marks auspicious beginnings, of the saffron robes of renunciation and the sacred fire of the havan. In the context of Indian festive textiles, orange is one of the most beloved and enduring colours — associated with warmth, abundance, courage, and the energy of celebration. Yellow, the colour of turmeric and mustard flowers, deepens this festive resonance — turmeric has been used in Indian ritual and textile dyeing for millennia, its golden warmth a symbol of purity, prosperity, and auspiciousness. Together, orange and yellow create a palette that is quintessentially Indian in its festive energy — warm, radiant, and alive with the spirit of celebration. On the subtle sheen of Cotton Dhakai Jamdani, this palette takes on a particular luminosity, the woven motifs catching the light to create a surface that glows. This Orange Cotton Dhakai Jamdani Saree is a joyful expression of India's most festive colour tradition, woven into one of Bengal's most celebrated handloom arts.
