Saree Chronicle
Saree Chronicle
Kantha is one of India's oldest embroidery traditions, rooted in the eastern regions of West Bengal, Tripura, and Odisha. Characterised by its running stitch — simple in form, extraordinary in effect — Kantha transforms fabric into layered, textured art. Traditionally worked by women on layers of old saris and cloth, it has evolved into one of India's most celebrated hand-embroidery styles. Bangalore Silk, woven in Karnataka, is prized for its smooth, lustrous texture and vibrant colour absorption — making it an ideal canvas for the fine threadwork of Kantha embroidery. When these two traditions meet, the result is a saree that carries the heritage of both the loom and the needle.

Colours are as true-to-life as photography allows. Tussar silk may appear slightly warmer or cooler depending on your screen settings and natural lighting conditions. Each handloom saree is unique — minor variations in weave, colour, and texture are a mark of authenticity, not a defect.
