Woven at the crossroads of two great weaving traditions — Dhakai Jamdani and Benarasi zari work — this Soft Dhakai Benarasi Jamdani Saree from Aananda Collections is a masterpiece of lightness, elegance, and craft. Where the delicate motif vocabulary of Dhaka meets the metallic grandeur of Varanasi, the result is a saree of rare and extraordinary beauty.

Colour & Design: A rich dark emerald green Dhakai body meets a striking magenta border — a bold, jewel-toned contrast that is both regal and festive. Running through the entire saree is an intricate copper, golden, and silver zari work — three metallic tones that catch the light with different warmths and brilliances, creating a surface that shimmers and shifts with every movement. The interplay of deep emerald, vivid magenta, and tri-metallic zari is a colour and craft combination of exceptional richness.

Fabric: Mixed Cotton — exceptionally lightweight and easy to drape, making it comfortable for extended festive wear without compromising on elegance.

Blouse: No blouse piece attached — pairs beautifully with a magenta, gold, or black blouse.

Size: 5.5 metres approx. | Width: 44 inches

Occasion: Weddings, receptions, festivals, and special celebrations where you want to stand out effortlessly.

Wash Care: Dry clean only.

Pre-stitching / Pre-draping: Available at an additional cost of ₹1,700. Please provide your waist, hip, and desired saree length measurements.

Note: Colour may slightly vary from images due to photographic lighting and monitor settings.

Saree Chronicle

This Soft Dhakai Benarasi Jamdani Saree brings together two of India's most celebrated weaving traditions in a single, extraordinary piece. The Dhakai Jamdani tradition — originating in the looms of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity — is distinguished by its use of the discontinuous supplementary weft technique, where additional threads are individually woven into the base fabric by hand, one motif at a time. The Benarasi tradition — originating in Varanasi (Banaras) on the banks of the Ganges — is celebrated for its use of zari (metallic thread) woven into silk or cotton to create the rich, shimmering patterns that have made Banarasi textiles the gold standard of Indian festive weaving for over five centuries. The fusion of Dhakai Jamdani's lightweight cotton weave with Benarasi-style zari embellishment creates a fabric that is both featherlight and luminous — the delicate motif vocabulary of Dhaka given a festive grandeur through the addition of metallic thread. The tri-metallic zari palette of this saree — copper, gold, and silver — is a particularly rare and luxurious design choice. Each metal has its own colour temperature: gold is warm and celebratory, silver is cool and luminous, copper is deep and burnished — and together, running through the emerald green body and magenta border, they create a surface of extraordinary chromatic richness. The emerald green and magenta colour combination draws on a long tradition of jewel-toned contrast in Indian festive textiles — deep, saturated colours that carry the energy of celebration and the depth of heritage. This Soft Dhakai Benarasi Jamdani Saree is a beautiful expression of what happens when two of India's greatest weaving cities — Dhaka and Varanasi — speak to each other through a single piece of cloth.
