Deep, lush, and adorned with the glitter of hand-embroidered gold — this Bottle Green Pure Katan Silk Saree with Zardosi Work from Aananda Collections is a masterpiece of Indian embroidery craft. Woven for occasions that demand nothing less than extraordinary, this saree is where the timeless richness of Katan silk meets the opulent artistry of Zardosi.

Colour & Design: The deep, jewel-toned bottle green of pure Katan silk forms a sumptuous canvas for this saree's defining embellishment — intricate Zardosi patches and butas (floral motifs) worked in metallic thread, catching the light with every movement. A stunning zari border frames the saree with regal grandeur, completing a look that is at once traditional and breathtakingly luxurious. The same-colour running blouse piece ensures a seamless, polished ensemble.

Fabric: Pure Katan Silk — the finest grade of Banarasi silk, prized for its tightly twisted threads, crisp yet fluid drape, and enduring lustre. Its plain weave structure makes it more durable and less prone to wrinkling than other silk varieties, providing the perfect ground for Zardosi embroidery.

Blouse: Same-colour bottle green running blouse piece (included in the 6.09 metres).

Size: 6.09 metres approx. (inclusive of blouse piece) | Width: 46 inches

Occasion: Weddings, festive celebrations, receptions, sangeet nights, and every occasion that calls for regal, handcrafted elegance.

Wash Care: Dry clean only.

Pre-stitching: Available at an additional cost of ₹1,700. Please provide your waist, hip, and desired saree length measurements.

Note: Colour may slightly vary from images due to photographic lighting and monitor settings. As this is a hand-embroidered saree, slight variations in Zardosi placement are a mark of authentic artisanal craftsmanship.

Saree Chronicle

Zardosi is one of India's most ancient and opulent embroidery traditions, with roots stretching back over 2,500 years. The word "Zardosi" is derived from the Persian words "zar" (gold) and "dozi" (embroidery) — literally meaning "embroidery with gold." Originally practised in Persia, the craft was brought to India during the Mughal era, where it flourished under imperial patronage in the royal ateliers of Agra, Lucknow, and Delhi. Mughal emperors commissioned Zardosi embroiderers to adorn royal garments, court costumes, elephant trappings, and tent hangings with elaborate patterns worked in real gold and silver wire, silk threads, and precious stones. The craft involves skilled artisans working on a wooden frame ("adda"), using a hooked needle ("aari") to couch metallic threads, sequins, beads, and wire into intricate motifs — a process that requires extraordinary precision and can take weeks or months for a single garment. After a period of decline following the Mughal era, Zardosi was revived in the 20th century and today thrives as a celebrated form of Indian luxury embroidery, recognised for its unmatched richness and craftsmanship. On Katan silk — itself the finest of Banarasi silks — Zardosi embroidery finds its most magnificent expression: the smooth, lustrous surface of the silk amplifies the shimmer of the metallic thread, creating a depth and brilliance that is impossible to replicate. This Bottle Green Katan Silk Saree with Zardosi Work is a living testament to this centuries-old tradition of Indian luxury.
