Light as a whisper and rich in heritage, this Peach Bangladeshi Dhakai Jamdani Saree from Aananda Collections is a handwoven treasure — where centuries-old craft meets effortless everyday elegance. Woven in the looms of Dhaka, the birthplace of the world's finest muslin tradition, this is a saree that carries the soul of the subcontinent's most celebrated handloom art.

Colour & Design: Soft peach pure cotton Dhakai Jamdani forms a luminous, warm canvas for peach, white, and golden zari motifs woven all over the body — each one placed individually by hand in the traditional Jamdani technique, creating a delicate, shimmering effect where the motifs seem to glow from within the fabric. The tonal palette of peach, white, and gold is understated yet deeply beautiful — a saree that rewards a closer look. Comes with a separate blouse piece featuring similar Jamdani work, or can be beautifully styled with a contrast blouse for a contemporary look.

Fabric: Pure Cotton — lightweight, breathable, and exceptionally comfortable for all-day wear. Handwoven in Bangladesh using the traditional Dhakai Jamdani technique.

Blouse: Separate blouse piece with Jamdani work included.

Size: 5.5 metres approx. (with separate blouse piece) | Width: 44 inches

Occasion: Festivals, pujas, office wear, casual outings, and celebratory gatherings — versatile enough for every occasion, special enough for the most important ones.

Saree Chronicle

Dhakai Jamdani originates from the looms of Dhaka, in present-day Bangladesh — one of the finest and most celebrated muslin traditions of the Indian subcontinent, recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013. The tradition has its roots in the legendary Dhaka muslin of the Mughal era, when the region around Dhaka produced the finest cotton fabric in the world — so sheer and light that it was described by poets as "baft hawa" (woven wind) and "woven air," and coveted by Mughal emperors and European traders alike. Jamdani weaving evolved from this muslin tradition, adding the discontinuous supplementary weft technique to the fine plain-weave muslin ground — a process where additional coloured or metallic threads are individually woven into the base fabric by hand, one motif at a time, using a fine bamboo stick or needle. Unlike embroidery, where thread is applied to the surface of a finished fabric, Jamdani motifs are woven directly into the structure of the cloth, making them an integral part of the fabric itself. Pure, fully handwoven Dhakai Jamdani — as in this saree — is among the most labour-intensive textiles in the world: a single saree can take anywhere from two weeks to several months to complete, depending on the density and complexity of the motifs. The peach palette of this saree — with its tonal play of peach, white, and golden zari — represents a distinctly refined sensibility in Jamdani design: a move away from bold colour contrasts towards a luminous, tonal harmony where the beauty of the weave itself takes centre stage. Peach, the colour of dawn light and ripe fruit, has a warmth and softness that is particularly well-suited to the delicate, translucent quality of fine Dhakai cotton. This Peach Bangladeshi Dhakai Jamdani Saree is a rare and irreplaceable work of art — a piece of living heritage from the looms that gave the world its finest cotton.
