Draped in the grandeur of Varanasi's finest weaving tradition, this Peacock Blue Pure Silk Banarasi Saree from Aananda Collections is a timeless masterpiece crafted for the modern connoisseur. The colour of peacock feathers, the shimmer of golden zari, and the richness of pure Katan Silk — this is a saree that carries centuries of craft in every thread.

Colour & Design: A stunning peacock blue body is adorned with floral golden zari butas scattered across the surface — each motif catching the light with a warm, celebratory glow. A light green zari border frames the saree with a fresh, jewel-toned contrast, while the richly woven pallu completes the drape with the grandeur that only Banarasi weaving can achieve. The coordinating blouse piece completes this breathtaking ensemble.

Fabric: Pure Katan Silk — crafted using tightly twisted pure silk yarns in a plain weave, known for its exceptional durability, resistance to wrinkling, and distinctive sheen. Intricate zari work in metallic thread enhances its richness and grandeur.

Blouse: Coordinating blouse piece of 33" included in the 5.5 metres.

Size: 5.5 metres (inclusive of blouse piece) | Width: 46 inches

Occasion: Weddings, festive celebrations, receptions, and every special occasion that deserves the grandeur of pure Banarasi silk.

Styling Note: Pair with gold or emerald jewellery to complement the zari work. A classic low bun with a maang tikka elevates the traditional look. Gold or green heels complete the ensemble beautifully. The blouse piece works beautifully as-is, or can be customised with mirror or Zardosi embellishment for a bridal finish.

Wash Care: Dry clean only. Store in a muslin cloth away from direct sunlight.

Pre-stitching: Available at an additional cost of ₹1,700. Please provide your waist, hip, and desired saree length measurements.

Note: Colour may slightly vary from images due to photographic lighting and monitor settings. Each saree is handwoven — slight variations are a mark of authentic craft.

Saree Chronicle

Banarasi sarees are among the finest silk sarees in India, woven in the sacred city of Varanasi (Banaras) along the banks of the Ganges — a weaving tradition with a history spanning over five centuries. The craft flourished under Mughal patronage, absorbing Persian motifs — intricate florals, paisleys, and kalga-bel patterns — and fusing them with the richness of Indian silk to create textiles of unparalleled opulence. Katan Silk, the fabric of this saree, is the most exalted form of Banarasi silk — woven using tightly twisted raw silk threads that give the fabric its signature crispness, smooth surface, and extraordinary lustre. Unlike other silks, Katan becomes more supple and radiant with age, making it a true heirloom. The zari butas (floral motifs) on this saree are woven using metallic threads — traditionally real gold wire wrapped around a silk core — a technique that dates back to the Mughal imperial ateliers of the 16th century. Each buta is woven individually into the fabric on a traditional pit loom, requiring the weaver to count and control individual threads with extraordinary precision. The peacock blue colour of this saree holds deep significance in Indian culture — the peacock, India's national bird, is a symbol of grace, beauty, and auspiciousness, and its iridescent blue-green plumage has inspired Indian textile artists for centuries. The light green zari border echoes the peacock's tail feathers, creating a colour harmony that is both natural and deeply festive. Recognised with a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, authentic Banarasi silk is a living testament to India's most enduring textile legacy — where every thread carries the weight of history and the artistry of generations.
