Bold, sculptural, and unmistakably modern — this Purple Accordion Pleated Designer Saree from Aananda's signature collection reimagines the saree for the contemporary woman. Where tradition meets avant-garde design, this piece makes a statement that is impossible to ignore.

Colour & Design: Draped in a rich, vibrant purple, this designer saree pairs a lustrous satin accordion pleated pallu with elegantly printed Dola silk pleats — a combination that brings together texture, movement, and visual drama in one breathtaking drape. The accordion pleating of the pallu creates a structured, fan-like silhouette that catches the light and moves with the wearer, while the printed Dola silk pleats add a refined, artistic contrast. Lightweight, unique, and effortlessly stylish, this saree is designed to be the centrepiece of any occasion.

Fabric: Satin accordion pleated pallu with printed Dola silk pleats — a thoughtful pairing of two fabrics chosen for their complementary drape, sheen, and visual impact.

Blouse: 1 metre blouse piece included.

Size: 5.5 metres + 1 metre blouse piece | Width: 46 inches

Occasion: Parties, festive celebrations, cocktail evenings, receptions, and every occasion that calls for a fashion-forward statement.

Styling Note: Let the saree do the talking — keep jewellery minimal with sleek gold ear studs or a delicate chain. A structured blouse with a deep back or cold-shoulder detail will complement the architectural pallu beautifully.

Wash Care: Dry clean only.

Pre-stitching: Available at an additional cost of ₹1,700. Please provide your waist, hip, and desired saree length measurements.

Note: Colour may slightly vary from images due to photographic lighting and monitor settings.

Saree Chronicle

The accordion pleat — named for its resemblance to the bellows of the accordion instrument — is a precision folding technique where fabric is folded in alternating directions to create a series of sharp, even pleats that expand and contract with movement. In Western fashion, accordion pleating has been a hallmark of haute couture since the early 20th century, famously used by designers like Mariano Fortuny and later Issey Miyake to create garments of extraordinary structural beauty. In Indian fashion, the technique found its way into contemporary saree design as designers began exploring ways to bring architectural silhouette and modern sensibility to the traditional drape. When applied to the pallu — the most expressive part of a saree — accordion pleating transforms the fabric into a sculptural element that moves like a fan, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow with every step. Paired with Dola silk — a semi-synthetic fabric known for its smooth texture, subtle sheen, and excellent drape — the result is a saree that honours the spirit of Indian dressing while speaking the language of global contemporary fashion. This Purple Accordion Pleated Designer Saree, curated by Aananda, is a testament to the exciting possibilities that emerge when traditional craft sensibility meets modern design thinking.
