Radiant as sunlight, regal as gold — this Chrome Yellow Pure Katan Silk Saree from Aananda Collections is a festive statement that needs no introduction. Where the warmth of pure Bishnupur Katan Silk meets the shimmer of zari artistry, the result is a saree that glows from within.

Colour & Design: Vibrant chrome yellow pure Katan Silk forms a luminous, joyful canvas for this saree's most exquisite detail — a delicate light purple fishscale zari border that catches the light with a thousand tiny glimmers, its scalloped pattern evoking the grace of fish scales in water. The striking maroon pallu creates a bold, beautiful contrast that anchors the saree's festive energy with depth and drama. The maroon blouse piece (35") with matching purple zari border on the sleeves completes the ensemble with a thoughtful, cohesive elegance.

Fabric: Pure Katan Silk — woven in a plain weave using pure silk yarns in the tradition of Bishnupur, Bankura, West Bengal. Known for its smooth texture, natural lustre, durability, and resistance to wrinkling — a fabric that becomes more beautiful with every wear.

Blouse: Maroon blouse piece (35") with matching purple zari border on the sleeves (included in the 6.09 metres).

Size: 6.09 metres approx. (inclusive of blouse piece) | Width: 46 inches

Occasion: Weddings, festive celebrations, pujas, cultural events, and every special occasion where you want to shine with the warmth of pure silk and the brilliance of zari.

Wash Care: Dry clean only.

Saree Chronicle

Katan Silk is one of Bengal's finest weaving traditions, rooted in the looms of Bishnupur in Bankura district, West Bengal — a historic town celebrated for its terracotta temples, classical Bishnupuri music, and centuries-old silk weaving heritage. Woven using pure silk yarns in a plain weave, Katan is prized for its smooth, lustrous finish, lightweight drape, and exceptional durability — a fabric that becomes more supple and radiant with every wear. The zari border on this saree is woven using metallic threads — traditionally real gold or silver wire wrapped around a silk or cotton core, though today high-quality imitation zari is also widely used. The fishscale (or "machli") zari pattern is one of the most beloved motifs in Indian textile art, its overlapping scalloped forms evoking the iridescent scales of fish — a symbol of abundance, prosperity, and good fortune in Indian culture. The fishscale pattern requires precise loom work to achieve its characteristic curved, layered geometry, and its delicate repetition across the border creates a shimmering, almost three-dimensional effect when the silk catches the light. The colour combination of chrome yellow, light purple, and maroon in this saree is deeply rooted in the festive palette of Bengal — warm, vibrant, and celebratory, evoking the colours of turmeric, jacaranda, and sindoor that mark India's most joyful occasions. This Chrome Yellow Pure Katan Silk Saree is a quiet testament to Bishnupur's centuries-old silk heritage and the enduring beauty of zari craftsmanship.
